Don't You Just LOVE Free???!!!

It's been a long week! I've been back to school this week for pre-planning, and to say the least it has been busy. It's also approximately 1,623,872 degrees here, so being in the inferno outside while moving stuff at school has just worn me out! So sorry for the absence of posts this week!

Here are some free deals! Print these ASAP, because they are going to go FAST!!

-Dove Deoderant: Click here to go to Target's website and print a Target coupon on Dove deoderant. Then click here to print a manufacturers coupon on Dove Deoderant. Use these in combination with one another at Target and it will make the deoderant free.

-General Mills Cereal: Click here to go to Target's website and print a $1 coupon on General Mills Cereal. The single serving cereal cups are $1 each, making it free. I printed 20 coupons, so I can get 20 for free. :)

-Archer Farms Deli Ham: (this is a tricky one) Click here to go to Target's website and print a coupon for $2 off Archer Farm's Deli Ham. Then go have ham cut and packaged seperately into 1/3 lb packages at the Deli at Target. Use 1 coupon for each package of ham and it will be free or nearly free. The ham sells for about $6 a lb. I printed 15 coupons so I can get at least 5 lbs for free. If you feel wierd asking them to package it that way, make up some kind of story that your husband/roommate/son/teenager wants it that way or they won't eat it. They'll think you or your family member are odd, but it won't be odd when you have free lunch meat! LOL By the way, I am going to freeze what we aren't using this week.

-Smithfield Bacon: click here to go to the Smithfield website. Click on sign up at the top of the page. Fill out the information and it will give you a coupon to print for $3 off a package of the bacon. Then you can hit back and print it a second time. I understand that the bacon sells for about $2.59 at Walmart, making it free. However, I haven't checked prices elsewhere, so YMMV.

Happy Savings Everyone!

Free Bread at Target

So here's how to get some great bread for free at Target this week. I discovered this on a trip tonight, so I plan to go back tomorrow to get some more. Go here and print out as many coupons as you would like on Archer Farms Artisan Bread. ($1 off coupon). The Archer Farms Artisan Bread Ciabatta Square is 99 cents in the bakery section. Use one coupon on each mini loaf of bread and you will get each one for free. This is very yummy sandwich bread and one mini loaf will make 2 sandwiches. I am buying a bunch and freezing them. I freeze everything anyway! Happy Savings!

Trip to Jacksonville Part One

Last week, Austin and I traveled to Jacksonville. Before going to Jacksonville, we made a few stops in Central Florida.

The first stop was at my friend Rachel's house in Apopka. She and I share a love of scrapbooking and got together to crop. Austin enjoyed playing with her cats. One cat, Pepe, allowed Austin to do whatever he wanted, including tracing his paw. I got lots of pages done and really enjoyed catching up with Rachel.

Here is a picture of her Cricut Cutter cutting out some letters for me.
I fell in love with the machine and want one of my own.

Next, we went to Mt. Dora and met two of my friends. I have known Denise and Marni for 16 years. Hard to believe it's been that long, but it has. We met at Camp Horizon all those years ago. We've all moved here and there, but every time I talk to these gals it's like we never parted. I am so thankful to have friends like these. Denise has 2 little girls, Ella and Corrine. I got to meet them for the first time. Austin thought it was way cool that Denise and her girls were from California, as that is where Lightning McQueen must go for the big race. Too cute!

Ella, Corrine and Austin

Denise, Marni and I

After a yummy dinner at Chickfila, the kiddos played and we got the chance to chat. It was a nice visit and I so loved seeing my friends.

We all parted ways and Austin and I drove up to Jacksonville. More on that trip in a later post.

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday. This Blog Carnival was created by MckMama and gives us a chance to deny all of our shortcomings as mothers. Feeling guilty because you allowed your child to eat ice cream before lunch, or didn't give him or her a bath after a dip in the pool? Well join in on this blog carnival and deny that you are imperfect.

A few weeks ago, I did not think it was a good idea to attempt to get my and Austin's hair cut at the same time. I did not think that my child could sit in the chair and allow someone to cut his hair while someone else cut mine. My child did not pitch a subsequent fit that was so bad the poor elderly women getting their hair set had to remove their hearing aids. Austin's screams were not loud enough to make their hearing aids ring. We did not leave the salon with only my hair cut and we did not have to return the next day to try to get Austin's hair cut again.

I did not take Austin to the local water park three days in a row last week. I did not wear him out intentionally so he would take a decent nap. He is not growing out of naps and always lays down and sleeps without question. I did not lose 6 lbs because he is so full of energy and running after him is not exhausting. He did not swim the length of the lazy river 4 times while I floated on a tube next to him. All of this swimming did not phase him one bit and he was not running like the wind as soon as I forced him out of the river.

My mother-in-law did not send us a box of clothes for Austin this weekend. I did not try the size 5 shirts on my 4 year old son only to discover that they were too small. We did not end up exchanging them for SIZE SEVENS. My son is not ridiculously large for his age and I'm not worried one bit about him being scouted for linebacker as soon as he enters Middle School. I am not nervous one bit about tackle football at all. I am one of those cool and calm mammas and put full trust in the protective gear.

There you have it. Those are all the things I haven't done. Hope you enjoyed reading. Take the opportunity to read around on my blog and if you enjoy it, please join me as a follower!

Free Bic Pens at Target

This is the deal as I understand it. I haven't checked this out yet (that will be Monday), so YMMV on this one.

I think that the Bic Pens are on sale 2/$1. Then you use either the coupon that came in today's paper that is $1 on 2 Bic Products or you head over to the Target Coupon Generator found on the front page of www.afullcup.com , where you can print as may of the $1/2 coupons as you like. For every coupon, purchase 2 packs of pens and you should only be responsible for tax. If you try this deal out, please leave comments on your experience! Happy Savings!

Note: The policy is supposed to be that it's one deal or the other when you use rainchecks on ECB producing items. Often, you'll get the ECBs from the purchase and the ECB from the raincheck. Of course this is YMMV.

Turn It Around!!

I have had the priviledge of attending the Beth Moore Bible Study, Esther this summer. I was able to go on Tuesday mornings. Oh I how enjoyed sipping on coffee and listening to Beth share with us while Austin had a blast participating in the childrens' activities. We really looked forward to Tuesdays. I look forward to whatever study our church has for women next year. This has been a great time to be able to spiritually prepare myself for the new school year.

I'm just like everyone else. I have bad days. There are days at work that are so tough I want to throw in the towel. My child has fits in the store just like everyone elses, and sometimes they are so bad that I leave feeling like the worst mother on the planet. I argue with my husband just like everyone else. I fall behind on the laundry, forget things we need at the store, and sometimes order a pizza rather than cooking dinner. But you know what? I know that no matter what, my Lord is there for me. He's there for everyone who believes in Him. Because remember, I'm not anyone special. I'm just a sinner saved by grace. I happen to be able to hold it together enough to maintain a job, keep a house that won't wind up on TV for being the messiest in America, work daily on my marriage and always strive to be a better Mom. But I couldn't even hold it together with the few stitches that I do without my Lord.

Sometimes though, the Lord needs to grab me by the collar of my shirt and give me a good shakin'. You see I become too confident in myself. Then I tend to not reflect that He is Lord of my life when I'm faced with adversity. I find it quite easy to fly off the handle and say terrible things when people are mean to me and attack me personally. It just feeds my sin nature to tell someone off. So, ever so gently, the Lord took me by the collar this Tuesday, and threw this excerpt in my face:
It is from The Queen and I by Ray Stedman
"When, because of your faith, your life becomes perceptibly different; when your reactions are quite opposite to what the situation seems to call for and your activities can no longer be explained in terms of your personality; that is when your neighborhood will sit up and take notice. In the eyes of the world, it is not our relationship with Jesus Christ that counts; it is our resemblance to Him."

How powerful is that? Well, I've got a lot of work to do to resemble Jesus in my every day actions. Thankfully, Beth gave us a list of verses to help. It's called Turn It Around Scenarios. She made the scenarios applicable to women, starting each one with "It's Tough Being A Woman", but regardless of the start of the sentence, these situations apply to everyone. So here are the turn it around verses. As Beth suggested, I have the scenarios on one side of an index card with the corresponding verses on the other. I plan to keep them in my Bible as a reminder. Perhaps I will even print them out and post them where I can reference them easily at work. All of these verses are from the NIV version of the Bible.

It's Tough Being a Woman....

1. In Another Woman's Shadow
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty" Ps 91:1

2. In a World Where Beauty is a Treatment
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; Yet they cannot fathom what God has doen from beginning to end." Ecclesiasties 3:11

3. In a Mean World
"I give you these instructions in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, holding onto faith and good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith" 1 Timothy 1:18-19

4, Thrown a Giant Sized Weight
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" 1 Peter 5:7

"However the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse to a blessing for your, because the Lord your God loves you." Deuteronomy 23:5

5. In the Tight Fist of Fear
"...who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will trample down their high places" Deuternonomy 33:29
"Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives and your homes" Nehemiah 4:14
"See I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me." Isaiah 49:16

6. Who can balance passion with patience
"Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you, He rises to who you compassion. Fo rthe Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him." Isaiah 30:18

7. Who feels responsible for the how...
"if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgement, while continuing their punishment." 2 Peter 2:9
"for He knows how we are formed, he remembers we are dust." Psalm 103:14

How powerful God's word is, and what a reminder of how much I have to learn!

How I Got Here...

It occurred to me early this morning that I am beginning to have followers on my blog. Followers that I know in real life, followers I do not know in real life. I think it's kind of amazing how fast word travels via the internet and how cool it is to be able to reach people with a blog like this one. Not everyone knows me, and there are a few things I would like to share.

I am soon to be 31 years old. I have been married to my husband for 9 years now and we've been together for 10. I met him online back in the dark ages of AOL Dial Up in the Christian Singles Chat Room. You know a match up is destined by God when it happens in a chat room. I was procrastinating on a Unit Plan for one of my classes and fooling around. Then a guy IM'ed me and from there it's history. I've never regretted procrastinating on that paper! We met online July 5, 1999 and by July 21, 2000 we were married. We had our son Austin a few months before our 5ht anniversary. I am going to begin my tenth year of teaching school in just a few weeks. I can't believe it's been that long, but it has. I teach ESE (aka Special Education), I go into the regular classroom and provide extra support to the kids with learning and emotional disabilities. My day is never dull and I certaintly can't say I have a boring job. My husband works in the Underwriting Department of a large Property Insurance Company. I can thank the mess that our state is in regarding property insurance for my husband's job security. We are blessed that neither of us are concerned about our jobs in this economy. Our son Austin will be attending 4 year old Kindergarten this fall. I had to search long and hard to find a school that would teach him to read while not bankrupting us. We have a very smart child on our hands and are not sure if in the future he will be declared "gifted" or not. I am really not concerned about the label as much as I want to keep him challenged.

The most important part about me is that I am a believer in Jesus Christ. I am not perfect, and every day I have to remember that I need to be more like Christ and less like me. God had taught me a lot over the years. I used to be very judgmental, and I think I was that way for a lot of reasons, but the reasons don't matter. The fact of the matter is that it is wrong to be judgmental. I have firm convictions about what I believe, however I am not going to condem anyone for disagreeing with my convictions. Remember--I'm not perfect, so I have no place in elevating myself above someone else. We attend church every Sunday, go to Bible Study classes on Wednesday night and try our best to do family devotions regularly. Are we perfect with those things? Absolutely not. But with God's grace we are growing to be more like Him and learn each day how to improve. I'm not so sure about putting super specific things on here about where we live, so if you want to know about our church, email me for a link to the website. We like our church a lot, and I am convinced we weren't led there by accident at all.

I started this blog because I want to share savings with everyone. I started telling others that I had saved here and there and everyone wanted to know what I was doing. So I decided to post the blog so I can refer people here. Since starting the blog and beginning to understand the blogosphere, I have started to dream. I have a little dream that I will generate enough traffic on this blog that I can justify placing ads on the sidebars. With the proceeds from the ads, I would like to donate the profits (which would be all of it) to the local crisis pregnancy center that my church supports. Since becoming a mother, I have learned to appreciate the importance of supporting a woman in crisis who is expecting a child. We'll see if the traffic increases and where it goes, but that's my dream.

Lastly, this is a positive blog. Please, if you are reading this and for whatever reason you don't like my openness about my beliefs or my choices in motherhood or anything else for that matter, please move on. I am not putting this information out here so I can be bashed. I've seen a lot of that online, so I really want to avoid it. I can promise you I won't post anything negative on your blog, no matter what I think. So please return the favor.

So there you have it... now you know who I am. Leave a comment and tell me about you!

Bucs Practice Game

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are promoting their season tickets. As a result, they are allowing people to come view practices inside the stadium for free. So we went last Saturday night. We had a lot of fun. We bought sodas, and even they were discounted. Here are some pictures from the event:

Austin refusing to look at the camera... what's new?

That is Captain Fear...

Austin and Captain Fear. I think it's funny that he's called Captain Fear because he's pretty hilarious looking. Austin got his shirt signed.

A few pictures of practice and Raymond James Stadium follow...
